Year 2 : Spring Class Letter
Firstly, ‘Happy New Year’ to all of the children and their families in Year 2, I hope you had a lovely Christmas break!
We had a busy first term in Year 2 working hard through our ‘Arctic/Great Explorer’ topic and developing our outdoor ‘Mini Beast Hotel’ project. The children planned, collected materials and built the ‘Mini Beast Hotel’ and we will be monitoring the visitor we have over the spring term.
This term our topic will be ‘Dinosaurs’ the children are full of questions and ideas about their learning already, suggesting activities and questions they would like to research.
All children in Year 2 have their own MyMaths login and passwords to access their online homework activities. If you need another copy of these please get in touch and I will give you another copy. Other homework tasks will be given in the children’s ‘Learning Log Books’. I would appreciate it if these can be returned to school on a Tuesday.
Please ensure book bags are in school on a Thursday, this term we will continue to read with children, monitor their progress and change their books on a Thursday.
Our PE session take place on a Thursday afternoon and a Friday morning and children require PE kits for these lessons (white t-shirt and black shorts).
During the first half term (Now until February half term) we will be spending Thursday morning in Forest Schools, our sessions in Forest schools will be based around the story ‘Tom and the Island of Dinosaurs’. School has a number of waterproof coats, trousers and spare wellies to protect children's uniform when they are in the woods. I would be grateful if you could ensure children have warm layers and a pair of wellies (children can bring an extra pair of socks too if it’s frosty!) for this session, hands and toes can get cold quickly when we are exploring in the outdoors!
If you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to get in touch and I will try to help in any way I can
Thank you for your continued support,
Welcome to Team Year 2!
Here in Year 2 we like to think of ourselves as a team.
'Team work makes the dream work!'
Our Class Vision
We will always try our best as part of Team Year 2. A tidy classroom will make us smile. Good sharing will make us all happy. We all need to be respectful and we will always be kind and helpful. We will always listen hard and try our best. Our class will be fun and happy as we learn together!
Children will be set task in their 'Learning Logs' on a Friday and I would be grateful if they could be returned by Tuesday. Some task will be set via My Maths - The children all have their own My Maths log in detail which have been stuck into their 'Learning Log' books. If you have any further questions about this please don't hesitate to call in and I will try my best to help!
Please bring book bags into school every Thursday, we will read and change books on a Thursday morning ready for book bags to be sent home again on a Friday afternoon.
Although we do not have Forest schools unitl the spring term we will still have lots of opportunities for outdoor learning, please make sure your child has wellies and a waterproof coat in school.
