Ysgol Rhos Helyg are proud to be an Eco-school.

We have celebrated our status as an eco-school since 2007. We have a love of the outdoors and sustainability which is very much a part of our ethos and our values. Each year a new eco council is chosen and together with our eco-club a committee is formed to drive forward our eco values.

Understanding and knowledge

Eco Schools, provides our pupils with the knowledge and comprehension of environmental issues not only enables them to take action, but also motivates them to lead the way and inspire change in the future. They are encouraged to cultivate themselves as capable, ambitious learners who are prepared to continue their education for the duration of their lives.

 

Developing life abilities and confidence

These lifelong skills, which include leading meetings, playing various roles in a team, influencing change in others, speaking to visitors and peers, and devising campaigns, enrich the learning journey of young people. Eco-Schools provide learners with the chance to showcase their creativity and enterprising nature, thereby preparing them to participate fully in both their personal and professional lives.

 

The cultivation of intelligence and ethics

The young people of today will be the policy makers, business proprietors, and consumers of the future. The international Eco-Schools program is a method of fostering ethical, well-informed citizens of Wales and the world.

 

Developing citizens who are accountable

Upon their departure from the Eco-School, young people are aware that their voices and ideas have the potential to make a significant impact, which ensures that they are self-assured and prepared to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society.
